When Conservatives Are Unnecessary and Unethical
Posted by Megan on Jun 26 2009 + C0mments

I find myself wishing for a slow news day so I can get caught up on all this. Maybe tomorrow. Some dimwitted UK anti-choicers ("doctors") want to ban abortion clinic ads, calling them sexy. That's the dimwitted part, but when have pro-lifers ever really been smart? I'd say fine, but only if all the pro-life ads weren't allowed airtime either. Some other Christian doctors are protesting the ads saying that they're "unnecessary and unethical." Logically that would mean crisis pregnancy centers would also be at least unnecessary. But logic is just another form of intelligence the right have never been able to grasp.

Water Water Everywhere?

A new study done in the UK claims that the main reason people buy bottled water is for convenience. I don't see what's more convenient about going to the store and buying water than just turning on the tap, but how could I be as smart as all these sciencey people. I also don't see how you can call it a study when only 23 people were asked. But keep going and you will.

"Many participants said they drank tap water at home, but purchased bottled water when they were out and about."

Okay, I can see how that would be convenient because I don't remember ever seeing sinks set up along London's side walks when watching any travel shows. Once again "researchers" have told us something we all knew to begin with, due to a little something called common sense. Most people buy bottled water when they go out because that's the only kind of water they can get, whether in the UK or America. Water fountains are not readily available everywhere. And these "perceived health benefits" they speak of? In the US, it's not because bottled water in itself is healthy, it's because it's a damn sight healthier than tap water is! Oh, I know not all bottled water is really any better, because some companies just package tap water, but you can't ignore all the chemicals that have ended up in our water supply. Not matter how "small" they say the amounts are the fact is you should put any amount of chemicals into your body that shouldn't be there. And just because it's a small amount in what they studied, doesn't mean that it's a small amount over time. Especially if you drank the recommended daily amount of water. These chemicals also create strains of drug resistant bugs that could change into deadly diseases over time. So I'd say yes, bottled water is safer. At least the water is, the bottles are a whole different story.

Cry-Baby

In Australia a crying toddler was kicked out of parliament during a session. Why was the kid in there in the first place? Her mother, a Senator, brought her. Her Senator mother brought her to work in parliament. During a vote. And then she had the audacity to claim to be humiliated, and now the whole ridiculous affair has some people whining about child-friendly work. Luckily most of the public is against her according to a television poll. The majority of people don't bring their children to work, especially if you are in the government, what made her think she's so special. I shockingly have to agree with the member of Australia's conservative Nationals party that said this was a stunt. The women could have easily placed her child in day care like many of the other working mothers of the world do, instead of using her own child in a political play.
